FRANCE-ENVIRONMENT-TRIAL-OIL-VERDICT
Pierre-Olivier Sur (R), the lawyer of Italian owner of the ship Erika Giuseppe Savarese and Luc Grellet, the lawyer of Erika administrator Antonio Pollara, arrive to hear the verdict of the "Erika" trial, 16 January 2008 in Paris. The trial aimed at deciding whether Total and other parties bear responsibility for the massive oil spill from the Erika shipwreck in 1999. The court found the owner of the Erika, the manager of the Erika Antonio Pollara and the French oil giant Total, guilty of serious negligence for the sinking of the ship.
