FRANCE-ENVIRONMENT-TRIAL-OIL-VERDICT
Corinne Lepage, French lawyer of some of the plaintiff towns damaged by the pollution and also ecologist association CAP21 candidate for last Presidential election, answers to the press after she heard the verdict of the "Erika" trial, 16 January 2008 in Paris. The French court found Total guilty of negligence and ordered the oil giant and three other parties to pay nearly 200 million euros in damages for the 1999 Erika oil spill, one of France's worst environmental disasters.
