SWITZERLAND-FRANCE-PAEDOPHILE-POLICE-RELIGION
Photo shows the monastery of Montcroix, which is reportedly housing a Swiss priest suspected of paedophilia, 21 January 2007 in Delemont, north-western Switzerland. The 67-year-old priest reportedly made an admission in an interview with a French weekly newspaper and was questioned by police last week. He had been sent to France between 1989 and 2005 and has been allegedly implicated in an alleged paedophile ring that operated out of the Swiss regional capital of Fribourg, between 1968 and 1972. Father Nicolas Betticher, a spokesman for the catholic church in Switzerland admitted 20 January that the church was "complicit" in the affair that the religious heirarchy had omitted to denounce.
