CHILE-BOLIVIA-FIFA-ALTITUDE-CONMEBOL

Bolivian Football Federation (FBF) president Carlos Chavez speaks during a press conference in Santiago, Chile 22 January, 2008. The South American football federation (Conmebol) gave on Tuesday its entire support to play matches at high altitude, after Bolivia protested the new FIFA policy. The world football's governing body had set periods of adaptation for matches played at altitude -a three-day period for matches played at 2,500m above sea level; for matches above 2,750m, a period of adaptation of a week is obligatory and above 3,000m the rule will be not to play the match, except with a period of acclimatization of at least two weeks. La Paz is more than 3,600 meters above sea level. AFP PHOTO/RAUL BRAVO
