FILES-GERMANY-ELECTIONS-INDUSTRY-POLITICS-CLEMENT

TO GO WITH AFP STORY by MATHILDE RICHTER - FILES - Picture taken 26 July 2004 shows Wolfgang Clement, then German Economy and Labour Minister, giving a press conference during the general affairs council at the EU headquarters in Brussels. Clement, former "Super-Minister" in the cabinet of Gerhard Schroeder, annoyed his social democratic SPD party by calling on voters in the western state of Hesse not to cast their ballots for the SPD's top candidate Andrea Ypsilanti. Clement defended by this the interests of his new employer, the energy supplier RWE. AFP PHOTO THIERRY MONASSE
