BRITAIN-ENT-ARTS-PAINTING-CEZANNE
Sotheby's employees hold a painting entitled 'Poires et couteau', 1877-78, by French artist Paul Cézanne, 29 January 2008, at the Sothebys auction house impressionist and modern art sale in London. The painting is expected to fetch an estimated 2-3 million GBP ( 4-6 million USD or 2.7-4 million Euros) when it is auctioned on 5 Febuary 2008 in London. The sale will bring to the market major works by many of the leading names in the field, among them Picasso, Jawlensky, Sisley, Monet, Cézanne, Renoir and Franz Marc. Together with the rest of the series of sales, they carry a combined estimate in excess of 100 million GBP (198 USD or 134 million Euros), making this among the highest value series of sales Sotheby's has ever staged in Europe.
