SCIENCE-PALEONTOLOGY-EVOLUTION-BAT

This picture released on February 13, 2008 by the Royal Ontario Museum shows a top view of hind foot of A Onychonycteris
finneyi found in the Wyoming state, USA, with the cartilagineous calcar visible extending to the right of the heel of the foot. This bone helped support the wing membrane between the foot and the tail. The 52-million year fossil unveiled Wednesday reveals that bats learned to fly before developing the ability to catch prey by using radar, settling a long-standing scientific debate.
