SERBIA-KOSOVO-KFOR
The Irish KFOR (Kosovo Peacekeeping Force) patrol near the village of Lapusnik on February 14, 2008. Less than nine years after war, ethnic Albanians in Kosovo are to proclaim the independence of the Serbian province, soon to be recognised by Washington and many European countries. NATO-led peacekeepers KFOR, comprising some 17,000 soldiers, has since been in charge of security in the province and the alliance says the troops will stay on after independence.
