FILES - Picture taken on May 07, 2003 shows the chief executive of Bavarian regional bank BayernLB (Bayerische Landesbank), Werner Schmidt, during a press conference in Munich. Werner Schmidt, who had run the bank since 2001, has resigned his post effective March 1, 2008 the bank said on February 19, 2008. BayernLB said last week that its 2007 operating profit amounted to about one billion euros (1.47 billion dollars), calming fears it could be overwhelmed by US subprime-related losses.
