Cypriot president-elect Demetris Christofias leaves his office in Nicosia on February 25, 2008, one day after the coomunist party chief was victorious in a second round run-off against conservative MEP and former foreign minister Ioannis Kasoulides. International efforts to reunify Cyprus received a boost after Christofias was elected president vowing to renew contacts with the rival Turkish Cypriots.
