A file picture dated August 29, 2006 and released by the US navy showd the guided-missile destroyer USS Cole (DDG 67) underway patrolling the Gulf of Aden as part of the Iwo Jima Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG). Deeply concerned about Lebanon's political strife, the United States on February 28, 2008 sped its USS Cole warship there in what officials described as a signal aimed at bolstering regional stability.
