INDIA-KASHMIR-ENCOUNTER
Kashmiri villagers carry a slain militant near a residential house where four alleged militants were killed in a gunbattle with Indian troops in the southern village of Saidpora, Shopian about 70 kms south of summer capital Srinagar on February 29, 2008. Three of the rebels allegedly belonged to the dominant group Hizbul-Mujahedin and the fourth allegedly owed allegiance to the Al- Badr rebel group -- both favouring Indian Kashmir's merger with Pakistan, according to Indian Army officials.
