TURKEY-POLITICS-GOVERNMENT-PROTEST
Thousand gather in a rally organized by Turkey Communist Party (TKP) to protest against the government in the Kadikoy district of Istanbul, on March 2, 2008. Turkish forces pulled out from northern Iraq on February 29, 2008, ending a week-long offensive against Kurdish rebels that the US feared could fuel a broader conflict in the region. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan however said Ankara would continue to fight the separatist Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and urged its militants to lay down their arms.
