LEBANON-UN-GERMANY-REFUGEE-SCHOOL
German Ambassador to Lebanon Hansjoerg Haber (R) and the head of UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) Richard Cook (C) cut the blue ribbon during the inauguration of a new school in the destroyed Palestinian refugee camp of Nahr al-Bared in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli on March 3, 2008. This is one of three schools opened in so many months by the United Nations and financed by Germany in Palestinian refugee camps in Tripoli. Nahr al-Bared refugee camp was the scene of heavy fighting in September 2007 between the Lebanese army and militants of the Fatah al-Islam, an Islamic movement affiliated to al-Qaeda.
