BRITAIN-AIR-TRAVEL-TRANSPORT-REGULATE-COMPANY-BAA-CAA
Andy Harrison, (L) Chief Executive Officer of Easy Jet, Steve Ridgway, (2nd L) Chief Executive Officer of Virgin Atlantic, Nigel Turner, (2nd R) Chief Executive Officer of BMI, and Michael Cawley, (R) Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Ryanair, attend a press conference in central London, on March 11, 2008. Britain's independent aviation regulator announced Tuesday that it would allow airports operator BAA to significantly increase landing charges for planes touching down at London's main airports. The Civil Aviation Authority said the increase in revenue from planes landing at Heathrow and Gatwick would enable BAA -- which is owned by Spanish construction group Ferrovial -- to offer passengers "decently modern airports."
