French Sylvain Chavanel (Cofidis/Fra) won the stage ahead of Spanish Luis Leon Sanchez (Caisse d'Epargne/Spa) and US Julich Bobby (CSC/Den), and Italian Davide Rebellin (Gerolsteiner/Ger) took the yellow jersey.
