GUATEMALA-BELGIUM-KIDNAP
Lancheros (boatmen) show in a map on March 15, 2008 the place where Belgian tourist where kidnapped yesterday in Rio Dulce, some 250 km northeast of Guatemala City. Some 400 police and soldiers were searching northeast Guatemala Saturday for the kidnappers of four Belgian tourists and two Guatemalans. Vice-president Rafael Espada offered to hold talks with the kidnappers, a peasant group calling themselves "Encuentro Campesino" ("Rural Encounter") and demanding the release from jail of one of their leaders, Ramiro Choc.
