IRAQ-US-UNREST
An Iraqi boy mimics a US soldier from Iron Company 3rd Squadron 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment during a patrol in the restive Diyala province, northeast of Baghdad, on March 17, 2008. US Vice President Dick Cheney, on a surprise trip to Baghdad today, strongly urged Arab states like Saudi Arabia to open full diplomatic ties with Iraq if they want to counter Iranian influence. A string of bomb blasts greeted Cheney's high-security and secrecy-shrouded arrival, while later in the day a bombing near a Shiite shrine in the central city of Karbala killed at least 43 people and wounded more than 70, police said.
