SPACE-ASTRONOMY-EXOPLANET-METHANE
ATTENTION - EMBARGO, RELEASABLE WEDNESDAY AT 1800 GMT - Artist’s impression released by the European Space Agency (ESA) shows the extrasolar planet known by the tag of HD 189733b (L), in which atmospheric methane was detected by astronomers. Astronomers announced on March 19, 2008, that they used the Hubble Space Telescope to detect methane — the first organic molecule found on an extrasolar planet, and also water in the atmosphere of the planet 63 light years away.
