ZIMBABWE-VOTE-TRADITION-RELIGION
TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY Susan Njanji
Martha Katsande, 51, a Zimbabwean traditional spirit medium sits in a nine-square-metre room in her house in Tafara, eastern Harare, in a working class suburb on April 7, 2008. The outcome of presidential elections held in Zimbabwe last week is proving to be a puzzle even for the country's African traditional occultists who often offer answers where modern technology has failed. One of Zimbabwe's spirit mediums who are given to reading into the future, Katsande does not foresee a quick-fix to the political quagmire in which the country is steeped, dismissing the just-ended elections as "child's play".
