(FILES) This file photo taken on July 2, 1981 shows French President Francois Mitterand (L) receiving Spanish Prime Minister Leopoldo Calvo Sotero during a meeting at the Elysee Palace in Paris. Calvo Sotelo, whose 1981 parliamentary inaugruation was interrumpted by a coup attempt and is best known for the political decision to lead Spain into NATO which it eventually joined in 1985, died of cardiac arrest on May 3, 2008 aged 82, his family announced.
