SLOVAKIA-EU-EUROZONE-ECB-POCIATEK
The hand of Slovakian Finance Minister Jan Pociatek shows a one euro coin on May 7, 2008 in Bratislava. European Commission's recommendation to admit Slovakia to the Eurozone as of January 2009. Slovakia hailed as historic twin reports by the EU Commission and European Central Bank approving its bid to adopt the euro in spite of lingering worries about the booming economy's ability to curb inflation. The changeover, still to be rubber stamped by leaders of the 27-nation EU in late June, will mark the sixteenth anniversary of the young country's creation from the former Czechoslovakia and a path since 1989 to overhaul the legacy of more than 40-years of communist rule.
