FRANCE-HISTORY-WWII-SARKOZY-KIEFFER

(From left to right, 1st row) Members of the Kieffers commando, Hubert Faure, Yves Meudal, Rene Rossey, Jean Morel, Maurice Chauvet and Leon Gautier attend a ceremony, commemorating the armistice of May 8, 1945, in Ouistreham, Normandy, western France, for the 63rd anniversary of the Allied victory over Nazi Germany in World War II, on May 8, 2008. The May 8 commemorations are usually held in Paris, but French president Nicolas Sarkozy chose to move this year's event to Ouistreham, near where a small French commando force led by Commandant Philippe Kieffer landed in June 1944 on a beach codenamed Sword Beach.
