CHILE-VOLCANO-CHAITEN
A wild flower sticks out from the deep layer of ash in a field around Futaleufu, an agricultural town 70 km from Chaiten volcano in southern Chile, on May 11, 2008. Several towns in Chile, which has one of the most active volcanic chains in the world, were evacuated -- some by force -- before and after Chaiten volcano on Tuesday spectacularly blasted out ash, lava and pyroclastic flows, after a 300-year slumber. The volcano, located 1,300 km south of Santiago near Chile's border with Argentina, first began erupting on May 2. AFP PHOTO/FRANCESCO DEGASPERI
