(FILES) General Electric Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey R. Immelt speaks 14 November 2007 during the 20th World Energy Congress in Rome. General Electric said on May 16, 2008 it has begun a strategic review of its appliance-making business that could involve a sale, spinoff or partnership with another company. The US conglomerate could as a result get out of the appliance business for which GE has been identified for over 100 years.
