BELGIUM-MARITIME-HERITAGE-ASKOY-II-BREL
The sailing boat wreckage of Belgian singer Jacques Brel's, the Askoy II, is towed away after arrival at the port of Antwerp, on May 16, 2008. The wreckage of the two-mast was transported from New Zealand to Belgium through the organisation "Save Askoy II". The Askoy II was one of the biggest yachts ever built in Belgium, and in the sixties and seventies it was the flagship of the Belgian yachting fleet. The yacht was later bought by Brel, who sailed away to the Marquesas Islands on it. The Askoy II will be taken to a maritime location where it will be restored as part of a project for the long-term unemployed. AFP PHOTO/BELGA/JORGE DIRKX
