UKRAINE-BRITAIN-EBRD-LEMIERRE-TYMOSHENKO
European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) President Jean Lemierre (R) shakes hands with Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko (L) before the opening of 17th annual two-day EBRD conference in Kiev on May 18, 2008. The EBRD said on May 18, 2008 that new market economies of the former Soviet block had shrugged off the global credit crunch but were facing slower economic growth because of rampant inflation. Lemierre was meanwhile hosting his last conference after eight years at the helm, with bank governors preparing to name German deputy finance minister Thomas Mirow as his successor.
