CHINA-QUAKE-NETHERLANDS-DOGS
Veterinarian and dog lover Esther van Neerbus follows search dog "Rifka" amid the rubble during a search and rescue operation by the Netherlands-based unit SIGNI on May 25, 2008 in southwest China's quake-stricken Sichuan province. The dogs are trained to find the living and the dead and have worked in the 2004 tsunami in Sri Lanka an Thailand as well as the 2005 Pakistan quake, Hurricane Katrina in the United States, and other quakes in Turkey and Morocco.
