The Paris pupils who picked up the Palme d'Or at Cannes with the movie "The Class" directed by Laurent Cantet on May 25, 2008, pose on May 26, 2008, in a classroom of their school in Paris, after being welcomed by other pupils, teachers and families. Based on the bestselling memoir of French teacher Francois Begaudeau, "The Class", shot in a rough Parisian classroom, became the first homegrown French movie in two decades to claim the coveted Palme d'Or.
