German Juergen Sparwasser, retired player of the former German Democratic Republic (GDR) football team poses with his biography «Sparwasser, Sparwasser, Toor!» («Sparwasser, Sparwasser, Gooal») on June 4, 2008, the day of his 60th birthday in Magdeburg. Sparwasser, who spent his whole career as midfielder at the 1. FC Magdeburg, became famous for scoring the winning goal during a 1974 football World Cup match for the GDR against West Germany on June 22, 1974.
