LEBANON-FRANCE-SARKOZY-FILLON
French President Nicolas Sarkozy (L) is welcomed by his newly elected Lebanese counterpart, Michel Sleiman, on June 7, 2008 at Beirut airport. Sarkozy came to Lebanon in a show of support for Sleiman and for efforts to promote national unity after months of often deadly political crisis. He is the first Western head of state to visit the country since Sleiman took office at the end of May.
