FRANCE-GERMANY-ACCIDENT-RAFTING
French gendarmes chats, on June 12, 2008, in front of the youth hostel in La Palud-sur-Verdon, southeastern France, where the German survivors of a rafting accident are housed. Three German tourists died on June 11, 2008 as violent storms caused a flash flood in a canyon. The group were rafting down the Baou canyon, a popular spot for beginners, on Wednesday when the gorge was swamped by a wall of water two to three metres (seven to 10 feet) high, laden with tree branches and debris.
