COSTA RICA-NATURE-CEDAR-PRIZE
Costa Rican peasant Orlando Sandoval, 53, observers a bitter cedar tree (Cedrela odorata) at El Abuelo Danilo farm in Escobal de Atenas, about 65 km north of San Jose, Costa Rica on June 13, 2008. The 100-year-old tree, with a height of 25 metres and a diameter of 4.4 metres, was given the "Exceptional Tree" prize by the National Institute of Biodiversity (INBio) in the framework of the National Day of the Tree.
