MIDEAST-PALESTINIAN-ISRAEL-GAZA-FUEL
A Palestinian worker fills up a fuel truck in Gaza city on June 19, 2008. A fragile truce between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas came into force in the Gaza Strip today amid scepticism over how long the Egyptian-brokered deal would hold. As part of the truce Israeli officials said that an easing of the Israeli blockade on the impoverished territory should start next week, with an increase of goods allowed into Gaza, providing the ceasefire holds. Closures have spawned widespread fuel shortages and destroyed the local economy, the World Bank reported in April. AFP PHOTO/MOHAMMED ABED
