Thousands of Peru-s Aymara Indians protested anew Tuesday, a day after a mob lynched the mayor of Ilave, took three city officials hostage and attacked a police station to free protest leaders. But a force of some 220 officers later retook control of the police station Tuesday. The Aymara, enraged by reports of corruption, meanwhile converged on Ilave from their farming villages in southeastern Peru to rally in the main square, chanting "Ilave united will never be defeated."
