SPAIN-PP-MEETING
Spanish Popular Party's new general secretary Maria Dolores de Cospedal waves during her official presentation on June 21, 2008 during the XVI National meeting in Valencia, eastern Spain. Spain's conservative opposition leader Mariano Rajoy named a woman, Cospedal on June 19, as the deputy head of his Popular Party (PP). The announcement came on the eve of the party's national congress that is to re-elect Rajoy, who in March led the PP to its second successive defeat to the Socialists of Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriquez Zapatero.
