At least 60 people were confirmed dead and scores were missing after Typhoon Fengshen struck the central Philippines, a local official said. Provincial administrator Manuel Mejorada said most of those killed had drowned in floods caused when the typhoon hit the central province of Iloilo. Their bodies were discovered as water levels receded, he added. Meanwhile, a ferry with more than 700 people on board listed and sank in just 15 terrifying minutes in the typhoon-battered seas of the central Philippines, one of only three survivors said.
