MIDEAST-ISRAEL-FRANCE-BARAK-YISHAI
Labour chairman and Israel's Defence Minister Ehud Barak (L) talks to the head of the ultra-Orthodox Shas party Eli Yishai during a state dinner hosted for French President Nicolas Sarkozy by his Israeli counterpart Shimon Peres in Jerusalem on June 23, 2008. Israel's Labour party decided on June 23 to support a motion to dissolve parliament this week, in a move that could bring down embattled Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's government, officials said. The religious Shas party was also poised to vote in favour of tomorrow's bill. Labour is Olmert's key partner in government and without its support the prime minister's fragile coalition would not have the required 61 seats for a majority in the 120-member parliament.
