Former Airlift US pilot Gail Halvorsen signs his name in the city's Golden Book during in a ceremony to mark the 60th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift at the Town Hall in the western German city of Wiesbaden on June 25, 2008. On June 25, 1948, the western wartime Allies began a massive operation which kept divided Berlin's western sectors supplied with food, coal and other provisions during a Soviet blockade -- one of the opening salvoes of the Cold War.
