Chinese popstar Li Yuchun, who won fame as China's first and only "Super Girl" in 2005, an "American Idol"-style TV show which drew 400 million viewers, more than the combined populations of the US and Britain, signs autographs prior to a concert in Hefei, eastern China's Anhui province on June 29, 2008. Li beat some 120,000 girls and women who took part in the contest which was later banned by the Chinese authorities, due to the sudden and unexpected burst of enthusiasm that has Beijing authorities worried about the precedent it may set for more unregulated forms of pop culture.
