China's fencing team will be hoping they can break European domination of the chivalric sport by producing a gilt-edged performance at the Beijing Olympics in August, 2008. One figure who typified the Chinese sprit at Athens was Wang Lei, who came from nowhere to take the runners-up spot in the men's epee, before going on two years later to take gold at the World Fencing Championships.
