BELGIUM-EU-ECONOMY
EU internal market and services commissioner Charlie McCrevy (L) talks with Cypriot Finance Minister Charliaos Stavrakis on July 8, 2008 before an Econmy anf Finance Council meeting at EU headquarters in Brussels. Eurozone finance ministers threw their support on July 7, 2008 behind the European Central Bank (ECB) after it raised interest rates last week, leaving France isolated in its criticism of the ECB. Eurozone finance ministers agreed that ECB was justified in raising the cost borrowing in the 15 nation bloc in the face of record inflation, which hit an all-time high of 4.0 percent in June.
