GREECE-QUAKE
This illustration courtesy of the US Geological Survey shows a map of planet earth at 04:17:57 UTC on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 with 202 earthquakes from the past week, the most recent in red, areas in orange are from the past 24 hours, and those in yellow from the past week. An undersea earthquake measuring 6.3 points on the Richter scale struck the southeastern Aegean island of Rhodes (UPPER LEFT IN RED) on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, the Institute of Geodynamics at the National Observatory of Athens said. The US Geological Survey said earlier the quake measured 6.4 at a depth of 68 kilometers (42 miles) and 147 kilometers (91 miles) southwest of Mugla, Turkey. The tremor was recorded at 6:26 am (0326 GMT) with the epicentre located 445 kilometres (276 miles) south of Athens. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. "The quake has the power to create a small tsunami but this possibility is reduced if its epicentre was at a great depth," seismologist Efthymios Lekkas told state Net television. Half of all European tremors each year are recorded in Greece. AFP PHOTO / USGS == NO SALES / GETTY OUT ==
