BELGIUM-JUSTICE-CHILDSEX-DUTROUX
Belgian convicted fraudster Michel Nihoul is seen at the start of the morning session of his trial at the Arlon courthouse 06 May 2004. The Belgian court trying kidnapper and child rapist Marc Dutroux was told 04 May how two young girls locked in a cellar might have been rescued two days sooner had police searched his house properly. Prosecutor Michel Bourlet, who led the investigation into the disappearance of 14-year-old Laetitia Delhez, said the thought that police were in the house for two hours plagued him "like a bone stuck in your throat that won-t go away".
