Athletes compete in the women's 5000m final at the "Bird's Nest" National Stadium during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games on August 22, 2008. Ethiopia's Tirunesh Dibaba won the women's 5000m gold for the first long-distance running double in 28 years. Dibaba, who last week won the 10,000m, finished in 15:41.40sec, with Turkey's Ethiopian-born Elvan Abeylegesse claiming silver in 15:42.74 and defending champion Meseret Defar finishing in bronze medal position at 15:44.12.
