FILES-US-OSCARS-MOORE
(FILES)Comedian and documentary-maker Michael Moore flashes the V-sign after winning Best Documentary Feature for "Bowling For Columbine" at the 75th Academy Awards in Hollywood, California, 23 March, 2003. The Walt Disney group said 05 May 2004, it has banned its Miramax Films subsidiary from distributing a documentary by Moore, critical of US President George W. Bush-s alleged links to the family of al-Qaeda-s leader. Moore-s film, "Farenheit 911," criticizes Bush policies before the 11 September terrorist attacks on the United States and alleges financial connections between the Bush family, its associates and prominent Saudi Arabian families, including that of Osama bin Laden. Disney head Michael Eisner told CNBC that Farenheit 911 "is a totally appropriate film ... but we did not want to have it in the middle of a political process. We are a nonpartisan company." An entry at this month-s Cannes Film Festival, the documentary closely explores the US government-s role in the evacuation of bin Laden relatives from the United States after the 11 September attacks.
