CUBA-HURRICANE-IKE
A man cleans his house before going to a shelter for the arrival of Hurricane Ike, on September 08, 2008 in Playa Giron, province of Matanzas -180 km southeast of Havana. Deadly Hurricane Ike has weakened to a category one storm with maximum winds of 130 kilometers (80 miles) per hour as it moves along Cuba's southern coast, the US National Hurricane Center said. However, the latter warned that "a slight increase in intensity is possible if the center remains over water" and that "strengthening is forecast once Ike moves into the Gulf of Mexico."
