FRANCE-BANKING-COMPANY-CREDITAGRICOLE
(FIES) A picture taken on August 28, 2008 shows the president of France's biggest retail bank Credit Agricole Rene Carron presenting the bank results for 2008's first semester. France's biggest retail bank Credit Agricole said on September 10, 2008, it would cut 500 jobs worldwide, half of them in France, in its subsidiary lender Calyon. The group said in a statement the lay-offs aimed to make savings worth 300 million euros by the end of 2009. The bank has been hard hit by the global crisis stemming from a collapse in high-risk subprime loans in the United States. AFP PHOTO BERTRAND GUAY
