FILES-US-MILITARY-HELICOPTER-CHINOOK
In this handout picture released by the US Department of Defence, US Air Force Tech. Sgt. William Sykes coordinates sandbag drops with the aircrew of a CH-47 Chinook helicopter to shore-up the break that is 75 feet wide and 20 feet deep at a breeched levee in Myrtle Grove, La., on September 4, 2008. Seven American soldiers were killed on September 18, 2008 when their transport helicopter crashed in southern Iraq, the deadliest such incident in the country for over a year, the US military said. The CH-47 Chinook went down, killing all on board, about 100 kilometres (60 miles) west of the main southern port city of Basra as it formed part of a four-aircraft convoy flying from Kuwait to the northern city of Balad.
