Dutch athletics guru Charles van Commenee gives a press conference at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, on September 23, 2008. Van Commenee, who was chef de mission of the Dutch Olympic team in Beijing, is confirmed as the new head coach of British athletics, taking charge of the squad from January 1 2009 through to the 2012 London Olympics. The 50-year-old will replace Dave Collins, who has already quit his now defunct position of performance director, as Britain looks for improved athletics results at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
